Can I still work when I'm retired?

If you want to continue working when you reach retirement age, you can do so, as long as you are able to continue doing the job, and aren't obliged to retire because of your occupation's legal age limit (fire fighters, for example). If you're not sure about your position, talk to your manager or employer.

Drawing from your pension pot or receiving the State Pension will add to your total taxable income. If you choose to defer your pension, you may have a larger amount to draw from later on in life. What’s more you do not pay National Insurance Contributions after you reach State Pension age.
